Before we start it's important to understand that the Rich Content Editor (RCE) is used in all other content types such as Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, and Announcements. Understanding how the features inside the RCE work, means you can apply these same principles as you build content in all other content types inside of Canvas.

This is the Rich Content Editor. It consists of two parts.

The toolbar for styling and editing content.
Where all the content is placed.

Many of the features in the RCE toolbar can be found in popular text editors like Microsoft Word. These options include:

Styling text
Subscript or superscript
Bullets and numbers
Adding Tables
Hyperlinks to websites
Math formulas
Adjusting Font sizes
Adding Headings
